NUMBER 01 - Livorno, July 28, 2014
From September 18 to 20 next, another big kermesse with the Italian and international historic rallies protagonists.
The race, real identity for the entire island, is also this year at the top of the international historic rallies.
The program also includes the "Graffiti", a must event for experts in regularity rallies to which was confirmed continental eligibility.
The route includes 11 special stages, almost all longer on average than in the past, with a more limited duration to allow, to all the participants, to enjoy the tourist aspect of the island.
From September 18 to 20, in its classic position at the end of the summer, adequate to support the extension of the tourist season, will be staged XXVI RALLY ELBA STORICO, twelfth round of the FIA EUROPEAN SPORTING HISTORIC RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP, as well as the eighth of the Italian Championship.
The great motoring comes back in the largest island of the Tuscan archipelago, another more reason to arrive at its shores and enter the magical world of vintage cars, where sport, culture and history are intertwined in a mix of sensations that capture even those who know little about engines. It´s one of the most exciting sporting histories in the world, that of the rallies Elba Island, just last year he was celebrated quarter of a century for this race than, among the Italian ones, is one of the world´s most well-known.
There will also again the "Graffiti", again valid for the FIA TROPHY FOR REGULARITY RALLIES (fifth of eight races on the calendar), evolution of the "classic" regularity, where time controls, passage controls and average tests make the ranking.
It does not end here, the twothusandandfourteen edition of the race, as it will have the added competition of "Regularity Sport" called "1st HISTORIC REGULARITY SPORT", with no official validity, but certainly ready to welcome a number of entries of both admirers of the specialty that the island of Elba. In addition, we will have to propose different topics, such as the "MEMORIAL TROPHY NINO FORNACA ´, the´ PORSCHE TROPHY MICHELIN - HISTORIC RALLY CUP" and the always spectacular trophy "A112 Abarth"
The classic, indispensable, rendez-vous proposed by ACI Livorno Sport - organizer and promoter of the event - after last year when celebrated the twenty-fifth edition of the race, promises to be extremely rich in arguments, for sure the Elban rally tradition will be continued at a high strength and passion.
A PATH MORE CONCENTRATE TO ALLOW TO MORE LIVE THE ISLAND WITH CAPOLIVERI AS HEART OF THE EVENT
Strong broad consensus obtained from competitors, enthusiasts and insiders (twelve nations represented among the competitors, around 8,000 registered the movement of these various roles with the event last year), ACI Livorno Sport drew edition 2014 poised to consolidate the high quality offered in the past editions. Also this year the headquarters moved in Capoliveri, village that was theater, since 2010, of a special stage, which will be repeated this year.
The design of the race is more concentrated than in the past, especially with regard to the duration, what to allow to live as much as possible the island and its beauties to everyone who will be involved in various ways in the context of the rally. Why this competition is organized also for the territory, to promotes the image, communication, and also the economic fallout with the emotional tourism, the island that is brought by the event itself. In addition, in designing the three days of competition it was decided to develop it evenly all over the island, either to go to strengthen the will that the event belong to the whole island and also because the Organizers try to not create discomfort to residents.
Nothing changed, compared to the three previous editions, with regard to logistics: the headquarters of the event is confirmed in Capoliveri, functional facilities at the Hotel Elba International, exclusive location that admiring the Gulf of Porto Azzurro, which will host the Race Direction, the Secretariat and the Press.
THE ROUTE: PRESENTING SOME NEWS COMING FROM TRADITION
Competition, exciting duels with the cars that have made the history of road racing and even culture, have always been the inspiration of the race for which, this year, the Organizers have worked with passion to make it fascinating and exciting. ACI Livorno Sport, once more provided three days of challenges, with a total of 11 special stages, three less than in 2013, but on average, all longer than in the past, then going to propose a path of even more quality, which will mainly make "stay in the car." They are all historical stages, which have seen in more than one occasion sporting feats that are remembered over time.
These are some characters that differentiate this year´s edition than in the recent past: "Falconaia-Bagnaia" will open and close the dispute. It is a trait that in this conformation is not played since the eighties, and then when many of the roads were unpaved.
The "Due Mari" will be run as during the modern Elban rally of last April, over twenty kilometers of challenge with a stopwatch that will make its mark in the race. The stage of "Lacona" will be only partially new, as it will use part of the famous "Monumento" to end up on the "Colle Reciso" and in practice has about five kilometers new.
A look slightly redone, one of the XXVI Rallye Elba Storico, which will surely be appreciated by those who run a challenge ready to convey strong feelings, exciting, entertaining and above all technique.
THE PROGRAM TO TENDER
Competition will start on the evening of Thursday, September 18: from 19.00 competitors will descend from the starting ramp in Capoliveri and will go immediately to contend with two special stages, as mentioned on the "Falconaia-Bagnaia" and "Capoliveri". Then, the competitors will enter the regroupment from 22,30.
The second day of competition, Friday, September 19, will start at 08.15 and includes four special stages, with the finish of the first leg at 16.10, again Capoliveri. The next day, Saturday, September 20 the grand finale, with a further five timed sections: the challenges will start at 08.30 and the checkered flag, always in Lacona, flown in from 15.40.
In total, the rally is 474,580 km long (135,040 km of Special Stages), those who want to stay in the car to enjoy the challenges against their opponents will certainly be satisfied.
