Many sport themes at the XXIII Rallye Elba -Trofeo Locman Italy

With its 149 total entries, 114 for the Rally and 35 for the "Graffiti", the race is going to turn on the engines and offer great challenges in three days of competition. The events of the European Championship are interwoven with those National, to provide moments of pure adrenaline and also a lot of sporting passion and culture.

The temperature rises, for the XXIII Rallye Elba Storico - Trofeo Locman Italy. Fortunately, not the weather, the heat seems to have loosened his grip, but that which is perceived in these last hours of wait before to hear the engines turn on and to start with the challenges. The seventh round of the FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship, also the seventh of the same specialties of the Italian Championship, with the organization ACI Sports Livorno on behalf of Automobile Club Livorno, owner of Rallye Elba brand, scheduled for September 22 to 24 now waits for the next its characters and their challenges in the field.
After the record of entries, 149, divided into 114 for the Rally and 35 for the "Graffiti" it makes now just browse through the Entry List and express the first predictions and the first guesses about who will be the 2011 winners.


Reading the entry list is clear that the best of the historic Italian and European rallies will be at the start of 2011 edition of the Rallye Elba Storico - Trofeo Locman Italy. The magic of the place, the charts still "short", the passion and who knows what else, promise three days of high level competition. A prediction is not easy with this parterre, the fact that the italian stories are woven with the Continental ones does not allow even to the most experienced to issue judgments or verdicts, may be too hasty.

In the focus of all, for the victory, there will certainly be Lucio Da Zanche from Valtellina with his Porsche 911 RSR. After the concrete supremacy realized in Udine in early September, also strong of his leadership in the provisional overall Italian Chiampionship standings, in a technique race like the Rallye Elba will certainly another lunge on opponents and a further leap forward in the standings.
The driver of Sondrio will not have an easy life: in various groupings, there are "names" who aspire to top. Nicholas Montini and his less powerful but agile Opel Kadett GT / E have the target to continue the positive trend that so far has led them to a place near the top of Italian Championship, as well as Roberto Montini (Porsche 911), and attention to the events that concern the two Opel Ascona 400, driven by Giovanni Galleni from Livorno and Bruno Migliara, with the Sicilians Plano, Bosurgi and Alfonzo, referred to as top-level variables together with the Tuscan Bussotti (all with a Porsche 911).

In the second group there will be duels between Da Zanche, Carissimi, Salvini, Muccioli, we expect sparks by the Czech Jaroslav Janot (Opel Kadett GT / E), the European leader of Category 2, who must beware the attacks by Antonio Parisi (Porsche 911), and the race by Luisa Zumelli, also with a Porsche 911, will be to followed. Alessandro Russo (Porsche) in Elba will be inspired to move forward in the Italian standings, as well as want to make the various Maurizio Pagella (Porsche), Rino Righi (Ford Escort) and Silvano Pasetto, who is now well in his category standings, both Italian than European.

There will be eighteen foreign crews, with arrivals from Austria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Norway, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Switzerland and San Marino, that confirms the international character of the XXIII Rallye Elba-Trofeo Locman Italy.
Finally, there will be three trophies, which in the field of historic rally cars are more and more followed: the A112 Abarth Trophy, the Challenge Lancia HF 2011 and the 2011 Opel Historic Challenge, to make even more exciting the Event.


Competition, exciting duels with the cars that made the history of street racing and even culture, are still the cornerstones of the race. For this rally, whose name alone is a guarantee of success, ACI Livorno Sports has once more provided a three-day challenges, with a total of 14 special stages. Paths are "historic", which saw more than one occasion, high-impact sporting feats.
It will start on the evening of Thursday 22 September: from 20.00 in Piazza Matteotti in Capoliveri competitors must compete immediately with two special stages, among which there will be a short "Capoliveri", arrived in great demand in 2010 due to strong interest shown by the City, who asked to join "the race", certainly a prelude to this edition, in which Capoliveri has the burden and honor of hosting the headquarters. The stage is short and very technical and partly follows the route of the famous old SS "Innamorata". Then, competitors will enter the regroupment in the night starting at 22.20.
The second day of competition, Friday, Sept. 23, which will leave at 08.00, provides for another six special stages, with the final day at 17.03, always in Capoliveri. The next day, Saturday 24 September, the grand finale, with a further six SS: the challenges will start at 07,45 and the checkered flag, in Capoliveri, flown in from 16.35 hours.
In total, the rally so far 523.550 km, 147.580 of which are timed, ie 28.19% of the distance.


The eligible vehicles are defined in three categories, as defined by the International Sporting Code:
- Category 1: Road legal cars built between 1 / 1 / 1931 and 31/12/1957 and Touring and GT cars, model homologated between 1 / 1 / 1958 and 31/12/1969,
- Category 2: Touring (T), Competition Touring (CT), Grand Touring (GT) and Competition Grand Touring (GTS) cars of Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4, models homologated between 1/1/1970 and 31/12/1975,
- Category 3: Touring (T), Competition Touring (CT), Grand Touring (GT) and Competition Grand Touring (GTS) cars of Groups 1 2, 3 and 4, models homologated between 1/1/1976 and 31/12/1981.

Also Period J1 cars (homologated from 01/01/1982 to 12/31/1985) will be accettable, but only without being eligible for points for the the European Championship, as follows:
- Group B - over 1600cc and / or forced induction.
- Group B - up to 1600cc. (Included)
- Group A.


Another indispensable event, on the roads of the island, is Elba "Graffiti", a regularity race, that will be specially observed this year. It will be a sort of experiment to evaluate certain non-remote possibility of joining in 2012, the European Championship of regularity rallies, the new frontier of the discipline, in which passing controls, controls stamp and regularity tests on roads open to normal traffic, which must be maintained on a well defined average, will contribute to make the classifications.
Again, the organization gives a sign of strong consideration to the "regularity", teaching for the first time a special prize at 1st crew in the overall classification among whose that will use only manual timekeeping equipments. It will be a come back to some years ago, when the technology had not yet taken hold, as today, of the specialty.
